My Advanced Scuba Class
Last weekend was my Advanced Scuba Class in Tahoe. Tate and I along with friends, Steve & Anna left for Tahoe on Friday evening with the RV and truck. With 4 people a dog and 17 SCUBA tanks, we could not all fit in the RV nor would we have transportation from our campsite to the dive site so we had to bring the truck.
As of Friday when we left, we didn\’t know if the campground of choice was going to open or not. They were completing renovations when the fire broke out in South Lake making it impossible for contractors to get in and finish work. They were hoping to pass inspection Friday sometime but still didn\’t know. So we headed to Tahoe, hoping for the best. When we arrived, there were other RV\’s in the campground so the opened! Unfortunately, the BIG MULTIPLE signs at the entrance saying NO DOGS ALLOWED kept us from going in .
We headed to cousin Russ & Terri\’s house to park the RV for the night and visit with Terri. Russ was away climbing a mountain so we didn\’t get to see him. Roxie and their dog Milo were the entertainment for the evening. Chasing each other around the living room and having a good ole time. We finally had to pull them away from each other so we could head to bed. It was going to be a long Saturday.
Saturday morning we woke up bright and early and headed to the beach. Steve, Anna and I got all geared up and headed into the water for our first of five dives for the weekend. It was a long swim out to the dive float in order to start each dive so we were exhausted by the end of the first dive and still had two more to go on Sunday.
While we were diving Tate and Roxie hung out in the truck or back at Terri\’s. He went and found another campground for us to park at and spread out at. We really needed the space to hang all of our gear and let it dry for the next day. We were all sore and tired by the end of the day so it was shower, food then bed for us.
Sunday went the same as Saturday. Long swim out to the dive site and long swim back… twice.
All in all, it was fun. Steve and Anna did really well, I had a minor setback during the search and recovery part of the class. We made it through and passed the class. We are now ADVANCED SCUBA DIVERS!
Oh, my drysuit worked perfectly! I was nice and toasty warm and DRY.
Well, that\’s all for now!
