Woodside RV Park and Campground is located in Ft. Bragg, CA on Hwy 1, just 1.5 miles south of Hwy 20. Woodside also has a sister campground a little more inland on Hwy 20 just before reaching Ft. Bragg.
Total Score: 21
Driving distance from Sacramento: (Rating 2) The total distance by car is about 3.5 hrs. If towing a trailer or driving an RV, it can be upwards to 4-4.5 hrs
Weather: (Rating 3) It’s the California coast. The weather is usually cool, to down right cold. It can be foggy and overcast one minute or sunny and warm the next. Be sure to pack warm clothes as well as cooler clothes. Layers is always good to have around. Personally, I love the coastal weather. If you’re right on the ocean, it can be windy so bring a hat to keep your hair in check.
Peacefulness: (Rating 1) The location is right off of Hwy 1 and so you can hear the traffic from most sites. Perhaps it’s a little quieter in the back but then you are backed up against another lesser traveled road, but still, a road.
Walking Trails: (Rating 3) There is a trail to Belinda Point not too far from the campground, but be prepared for a nice long walk. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the trailhead (2 minutes if you drive) then another 10 minutes to ocean cliffs. It winds through private property and the trail is nicely manicured and a very peaceful walk. The property owners have signs posted through out the trail requesting to stay on the trail. These signs continue once you reach the ocean and request that you NOT go down to the beach cove while they prepare for public access. So all you can do is walk around the cliffs. It’s a beautiful view and a nice walk.
Water Access: (Rating 2) There is no immediate access to the ocean/beach from the campground but as I mentioned above, can be walked to in 20-25 minutes.
Water & Power: (Rating 5) There is power and water throughout the campground and even sewer hookups in many sites. If you have a trailer or RV, finding power/water/sewer shouldn’t be a problem.
WiFi: (Rating 5) This campground has free WiFi. The closer you are to the office, the stronger the signal, I was right across the lot from the office so signal was good and strong.
Other Notes: The customer service of the grounds manager, Phyllis was amazing. She was available, friendly, very helpful and attentive to our group’s needs. Service like that doesn’t come along very often.
Woodside is self described as a mobile home park in the front and campground in the back. However throughout the site there are mobile homes, permanent trailers and RV’s intermixed with campers. It’s generally well kept and the residents keep to themselves. If you don’t mind camping next to where someone else is living, this is a nice campground. They have a large play area for the kids as well as a game room. The play area has also been known to be turned into a group campsite.
Was wondering if you know of any campers for sale? Thanks
This is the only one I know of: http://www.reneerox.com/2009/12/19/2001-komfort-5th-wheel-23/
