Today is my dad’s birthday. For my dad’s birthday, I do what I always do, spend the weekend with him. We drove up there Saturday afternoon and met Dad, Gail and my grandfather at the movie theater to see Flags of Our Fathers. This was the movie about Iwo Jima and the photo made famous by this battle. It was a very moving and worthwhile movie to see. My grandfather was assigned to a Navy ship during that battle.
After the movie, we went for dinner in Red Bluff at The Riverside Bar & Grill. The Riverside has changed hands many times throughout the years and so far, this group is doing a great job. The restaurant was busy and the food was good. After dinner we stopped at Baskin Robins for ice cream then headed home for another move, X III. Sunday didn’t go as planned. We were supposed to go watch Dad fly his RC planes but due to a missing part, we couldn’t do that. So we hung out around the house, helped him fix a few things around the house then went to lunch at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Francisco’s then headed home.
With me and Tate’s busy schedules throughout the year, we don’t get a chance to visit my parents very often. But I make sure that no matter what, I make time to visit them on their birthday’s. It’s important for me to be able to spend some quality time with them when I can.
I had a great time this weekend Dad! I love you! Happy Birthday
