Rayn had 9 healthy puppies on Good Friday, April 6^th. Unfortunately, she only had 3 blues (2 girls and 1 boy). Based on previous conversations with Liz, the breeder, the 2 female were already spoken for and she was keeping the male for herself. So most of the weekend we contemplated what we would do if this was indeed the case. We decided that we weren’t going to settle for less than what we wanted so if we didn’t get on of Liz’s females, we would wait for one of Anne’s. Anne is another breeder we have been in touch with in Southern California. She is expecting a smaller litter of 3-4 puppies on Mother’s Day. Although she too is expecting a mixture of blue and gray puppies so it’s possible that she won’t have any blue females either. This realization was very depressing for me as it would me that either we settled or waited another year for another litter.

We got the good news this morning that Liz has reserved one of her females for us! YEAH!!! There is a catch though…she wants to retain breeding rights or to be a co-owner in order to possibly breed her if she proves \”worthy\” this means that she also wants us to train her for competion in something such as obedience, field work, agility or somthing like that. Looks like we get to learn a new hobby.

We will get to visit the puppies in a couple of weeks and will probably bring one home in early – mid June.
