House Update:
The house is slowly coming along. The roof is almost finished and we still have siding to put up outside. Inside, we have a long way to go. The concrete for the newly added portion of the garage still needs to be poured before we can get the RV out of the front yard. We hope to have that done within the next few weeks. It will probably take all winter before it will be totally finished as Tate can only work on it on his off days and many times those days are occupied with other things.
Roxie Update:
As most of you know, Roxie earned her International Baby Championship back in September. We have decided to continue until she earns her Adult Championship so our next show is in January. In the meantime, here is the official Winner\’s Picture with Debbie, her handler (and sire\’s breeder) and the judge:
Also, here is the video I took of her that weekend.
We have also started field training with a private trainer. We are going to try to earn her a hunting title to go along with her conformation title. This will show her versatility and make her more valuable for breeding (when that day comes). While we\’re at it, we will get to see her do what is natural to her breed and see her hunt. Anyone want to borrow a bird dog???
Roxie and I have also been volunteering for the Northern California Weimaraner Rescue. We attend events and work the PR booth to help educate about the Weimaraner breed and help answer questions on how to adopt. It\’s a lot of fun and Roxie get\’s LOTS of attention since her color is so different than most people have ever seen. It\’s also our chance to educate the public about the blue color.
What else have we been up to?
Someone on some forum asked if there was a calendar made up of only Blue Weimaraners, there wasn\’t so I volunteered to make one. I asked other blue owners to send me photos of their dogs and this is what I came up with: www.reneeandtate.com/blueweim.html So far, I have sold about 40 of the 100 I ordered.
I have also volunteered to help organize an official Blue Weimaraner Club in order to promote better breeding practices, educate the public and general comraderie amongst Blue Weim owners. We are still in the formation process and there is a lot of work to be done.
I recently completed my Channel Islands video and it ended up being featured on our local morning TV news show, Good Morning Sacramento. Some of you may have already seen it because I sent out an e-mail to everyone I know in the area to look for it on TV. If you missed it, here it is again:
We didn\’t spend any time on the boat this summer after the houseboat trip back in June. Tate went out a couple of times with friends, but that\’s it. The boat is in storage until the garage done enough that we can put it back where it belongs.
Hopefully by next spring, the garage will be done enough that we can get back to boating, camping and scuba diving in between dog shows, field training and all the other stuff we have going on!
Well, that\’s all for now. Be sure to read the next Blog about our 2nd anniversary trip to Hawaii.
Take care!
Renee & Tate
P.S. No, I didn\’t take the photo in the header. I stole it from Webshots
P.S.S. For those with kids away from home, a friend of mine has started a care package business called Roots and Wings Gift Boxes. Check it out: http://www.rootsandwingsgiftboxes.com/
