Last Sunday was my 37th birthday. I can’t believe I’m 37! It seems like just weeks ago, Carrie was turning 37 and I started fretting that I was next. Well, it’s here, and I’m A-OK. I had a GREAT birthday!
I spent the day with Carrie and we went to a new winery in Shingle Springs owned be family friends of hers. Chateau Davell on Carson Road. We arrived to a quint little tasting room with beautiful paintings done by Owner, Eric Hays, hand made jewelry by Davell Hays and fantastic wines paired with the perfect fruit, cheeses and chocolate. Several visitors not only walked away with several bottles of wine (like me) but also organically grown fruits & veggies. Also assisting in the tasting room was Eric’s lovely wife Emily but their adorable daughter Charlotte, which one of the wines (a tasty red) was named after.
After wine tasting, we had lunch in downtown Placerville with another family friend of Carries at a cute little place called Heyday. It was quite yummy and was nice to see “Aunt” Darlene and catch up.
After lunch… yes there’s more… Carrie headed to see a movie. We say “The Kids are Alright” with Annette Benning and Julianne Moore. It was a really good movie however, I caution interested parties to NOT bring your teenager’s. There was A LOT of sex which was surprising for a rated R movie. There were a lot of elder folks in the theater and more than once, I heard them *gasp*. I even raised my brows a bit here and there.
After the movie, it was time to part ways with my BFF Carrie. I arrived home relatively early and decided to take Roxie for a nice long walk down to the river which is a good 2 mile walk. We BOTH needed it. Not only the exercise, but the time out of the house, away from computers, TV’s and couches. It was nice to be in the sunshine and to listen to the wind in the trees, see the wild turkeys and deer.
All in all, it was a great day. Thank you Carrie for planning it and spending it with me! Here is a little slideshow of the photos from the day. Carrie has more, so check back for new pics.
Happy B-day, Renee….I feel ancient!
